This is a simple but definitley special occasion dish, mainly because of the amount of butter used! It is worth it though & you can use fresh sage if you have any.
Serves 2 (easily doubled) Approx £1 per person
Prep time 5 minutes Cooking time 15 minutes
Ingredients
125g mushrooms, thickly sliced
250g Gnocchi (this should be about ½ a packet & you can freeze the rest!)
60g unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, crushed
11/2 tsp dried sage
salt & pepper
Place a large frying pan over a medium heat & add the butter & about 1 tbsp oil.
When the butter is foaming slightly add the garlic & cook for about 1 minute stirring then add the sage.
After another minute add the mushrooms & cook until starting to colour.
Season with salt & pepper.
Add the gnocchi & cook, stirring for about 8 minutes until the gnocchi is cooked through & soft. Make sure that it gets coated in the buttery sauce.
Serve immediately.
