Hey everyone...yes I know it's been quite a while & I've been very quiet.
BUT! I have excuses & I shall now bore you with them (this is your chance to put the kettle on/get a snack/go for a wee)....ok..here goes..
Since I last posted my ramblings I've had a fair few hospital appointments (I know-shocker!) including seeing a Urology specialist consultant. After some (unpleasant but neccessary) tests she advised me that an operation was an option but as it would be major surgery it would take careful consideration (& some weight loss!) on my part. It would mean in the future that I could then have a kidney transplant & finally get rid of these kidney tubes! Which would be rather spiffing, I must say.
Speaking of those pesky tubes, they started misbehaving early on in the new year...well just the right side to be precise. This resulted in much to-ing & fro-ing to hospital to get it unblocked & after the umpteenth time I was getting a tad ticked off (as I'm sure you can imagine..)
One of the lovely nurses at the Urology ambulatory clinic at Royal Stoke (massive shout out to those guys they are an incredible team!) advised me that rather than getting them changed every 3 months it would be wiser to go for a 6-8 week change, which was fine by me if it would save me some unplanned visits!
So it looks like, for the forseeable future the tubes are here to stay...
Which is fine, I've got used to them & at the end of the day they saved my life & I am truly grateful for that..❤️❤️❤️
I've also been having a serious think about the future of The Credit Crunch Cooke....obviously having Chronic Kidney disease was not on my bingo card & it's had an effect on everything that I do.
One of the main issues (amongst many!) is fatigue & as anyone who suffers with a chronic condition knows, you basically have to plan ahead for pretty much everything.
I know I don't want to give up on it as it's been a big part of my life for a long time. I've loved it so much & really miss creating new & budget friendly recipes for you all but, sadly, spending all day in the kitchen just isn't doable for me now...
So, I have a plan...
I'm fortunate enough to have a very capable & able bodied husband who is pretty good with a saucepan & wooden spoon (he also rocks an apron, so added bonus there!). Between us we have decided that for the forseeable future I'll be the brains & he'll be the brawn! In other words I'll create the recipes & he'll test them. I'll probably supervise & by supervise I mean I'll be annoying & keep interfering until he tells me to go away...😁
Of course this means I'll be needing to dust off my notebook & get my creative hat back on.
My brain hasn't been completely idle while I've been gone. I have rediscovered my love of crosswords & reading plus I've been trying to learn how to crochet, the progress of which has been a bit slow but I'll get the hang of it.
So, that's about it for now. I've just started sharing my old recipes again on my Facebook page & I will do my best to keep that going so there is something to look at!
Watch this space though, because if all goes to plan there will be some new recipes on the horizon finally- Yay!!!
Thanks for reading folks, I've missed you big time & it looks like...I'm baaaaack!!!
Love Sarah xxxx
