Ready to cook Chips

Chips are a great accompaniment to many dishes & all or most of us buy frozen oven chips for convenience. As with the ready to cook roasties a bit of pre-preparation means you can have your very own oven chips & flavour them however you like!

You will need:

Again your choice of potato ideally a good "all rounder". I used about 2lb of Wilja potatoes again but picked out the larger ones this time.

Freezer bags & waterproof marker pen.

Prepare the potatoes the same way either peel or leave the skin on, then chop them into chips or thicker wedges if you prefer.

Par boil for about 5-7 minutes but no longer. As with the roast potaoes you want them to be only slightly fluffy on the edges.

Drain & cool then freeze on baking trays lined with greaseproof paper. Once solid place in a freezer bag labelled with the date & contents. Put them in the freezer until you are ready to use them.

To cook:

Pre-heat the oven to 190 Fan/200C/Gas 5.

Place the desired amount of frozen chips into a bowl & drizzle with about 2 tbsp of sunflower oil. Season with salt & pepper & any other flavourings you like. I use paprika sometimes or a little cayenne pepper for spicy wedges! Toss to coat then place them onto a baking tray.

Place into the oven for 25-30 minutes until the chips are golden & crispy.
