Mrs Winkle finds a bit of her mojo again, does something "normal", & pays tribute to a rock legend....

Hi everyone, sorry it's been a few weeks, I've decided that a weekly post is probably a bit too ambitious especially when life is pretty quiet most of the time!

This week I baked....I know, I know I'm surprised too....

It feels like a gazillion years since I last got my spatula & mixer out but I wanted to see how I would manage...

What spurred me on you might be asking? Well nothing exciting, just a punnet of blueberries in the fridge that I had shamefully forgotten about & you all know how much I hate waste. I checked that I had all the other ingredients &, after asking Mr W to get my mixer out of hiding I got started.

Fortunately it's a simple recipe & in no time they were in the oven & making the house smell lovely!

I don't know if he has a sixth sense for baked goods but just as I was getting them out of the oven my little brother, Gaz called....

He asked what I was up to so I told him & as soon as he heard the words "baking" & "muffins" he was on his way & not 30 minutes later appeared on our doorstep ready to collect! It's lucky I love him isn't it..? 😉

It was so nice to do something "normal" after such a long time & it made me realise how much I miss making yummy treats for people. I suppose you could say it's my "love language"!

As some of you may know as well as a love of food, I am a huge rock fan! Lots of black eyeliner, ripped jeans, band t-shirts & very over-backcombed hair (see pic!)

When I was about 15, a family friend gave me a load of cassette tapes (yes I'm that old!) there was Guns 'n' Roses, Def Leppard & more I can't remember now (it was a long time ago give me a break!) but one stood out...Black Sabbath!

It was probably the cornerstone of my love of rock, heavy metal to the point that Black Sabbath & of course Ozzy Osbourne became a very important part of the rest of my teenage years & those to come. The power in those songs & Ozzy's vocals had me mesmerised as a teenager & still do to this day...

You can imagine then, my great sadness at the recent loss of Ozzy. Having many like minded friends feeling the same sense of loss has made me realise that we are not just friends, we are a family. That feeling was reinforced again recently at the "Back to the Beginning" gig only a few weeks ago at Villa park in Birmingham. Mr W & I were in Brum for a completely different reason (food festival!) but we could still feel the atmosphere & it was great to see so many rockers from all parts of the world in the home of heavy metal!!!! I would love to have been at the gig but standing for that long is an absoloute no no for me now sadly. All was not lost though & we managed to stream it the following day- thanks to my Bro & Kelly for arranging that!!

If you're wondering how I managed a food festival the answer is simple- find a spot to sit down & get hubby to bring you food & drinks (a bit like being the Queen!). Some delicious morsels were consumed from some of Birminghams finest establishments (I only have a few pics!).

Again, it was nice to do something "normal" even though I was exhausted the next day- actually the perfect opportunity to sit on my bottom & watch a certain gig!

...& on that note folks I'm off for a little break, a cuppa & maybe a bit of Ozzy (no headbanging though I've given that up now...!)

Rock on!!🤘😝💜🖤

Love Sarah 🥰😘xxx
